Police search Petersburg High School after student finds bomb threat

PETERSBURG, Va. — A bomb threat was discovered by a student on Monday, inside a bathroom at Petersburg High School.

Police were contacted, and searched the building.

Parents were contacted about the incident, by telephone.

Officials said that such threats could result in criminal charges.

Statement from Petersburg City Public Schools:

Today at Petersburg High School, a student discovered writing on a wall in a boy’s bathroom indicating a bomb threat. To ensure the safety of students and staff, law enforcement was called in to conduct a thorough search of the building. The principal informed parents of the incident by phone. We want to stress to students that threats of this nature are very serious and can result in criminal charges. We want to assure parents that in Petersburg Schools, learning in a safe and secure environment is a major priority.
