RICHMOND, Va. - As a member of the Richmond School Board, Tichi Pinkney-Eppes helps direct a budget that is over $300 million.

Now, there are concerns being raised by taxpayers as to how she is spending her own money. According to court documents, Eppes filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy with her husband in April of this year.

Records show that is the third time the school board member has filed.

Documents also state that Eppes and her husband had a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, but it was rescheduled for December 9.

A trustee had filed a motion to dismiss the case because of failure to make plan payments.

If dismissed, experts say Eppes and her husband could lose their bankruptcy plan and could be subject to further collection efforts from creditors directly.

CBS 6 tried to reach Eppes about he latest filing.

As of late Friday evening she had not returned a phone call regarding the case. CBS 6 report Chelsea Rarrick also went to her home but no one answered the door.

"The public absolutely has a right to know about this sort of thing, and I think it should be given a lot more scrutiny," said Roal Mason who lives in Eppe's district.

Documents also show that the payments were directed to come from her husband, but both are still responsible as it is a joint filing.

As for some of Eppe's debt, documents show she owed over $2,000 to the City of Richmond in back taxes.

These findings have some living in Richmond wondering how they can trust her to handle school funds.

"I certainly think she should be held accountable," said Mason.
