HOUSTON — Houston residents got a huge surprise Saturday when they ran into an alligator in the parking lot of a local strip mall.

The alligator wasn’t any alligator. The big fella earned the name “Godzilla” because it’s 12-foot long and 800 pounds.

Christy Kroborth, who is a dental hygienist by day and a licensed trapper by night, said she was called out to the mall parking lot to help capture the gator.

“The call came in as a 7-foot alligator, and I thought, ‘I’ll snatch it up before coming to my real job,”‘ she told the Houston Chronicle, with a laugh.

“We tried several different attempts on how to catch him,” said Kroborth. “Finally we thought we had him wore out enough to put two people on the back of him and kinda outweigh him which clearly did not work”

With help from Kroborth and six police officers it took three hours to secure “Godzilla.” A forklift from home depot also assisted in getting the gator to an alligator sanctuary.
