The Atlantic tropical season runs through the end of the month, and two disturbances are being watched for possible development.

The first is in the Gulf of Mexico, about 300 miles southeast of Brownsville, Texas.  The potential for major development is very low, but an Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft may investigate the system.  Movement will be fairly slow to the northwest.

The second disturbance is east of Puerto Rico and shows a better chance of developing a bit over the next few days.  The potential track of this would bring it into or just east of the Bahamas by Tuesday or Wednesday.

While this second system bears watching, many of our computer models show that a storm across the southeastern states Monday into Tuesday, and a cold front passing on Thursday, would help deflect the tropical disturbance away from the east coast.

More information can be found as these develop more in the CBS 6 Hurricane Tracker.
