RICHMOND, Va. — Jermaine is a very friendly 12-year-old boy who is very eager to please. He wants so badly to verbally communicate with others; however, he is nonverbal. He does use methods such as pointing, eye gazing, and tapping to communicate and attract your attention. Jermaine is very good at matching activities and is working on completing basic household chores.

Jermaine’s preferred activities are riding around in the car, walking around in stores, sandbox or water play, and swinging on playground equipment. He really gets excited when he has the opportunity to go to amusement parks and ride the rides such as scrambler, roller coasters, and teacups.

Jermaine loves to be the focus of attention, knowing someone is watching him gives him a sense of security. He checks with his caretakers very frequently. Jermaine desires a committed family willing to work with his therapist and assist him to reach his fullest potential.

In Virginia, we have over 860 children who are ready for foster to adoption. In other words, these children are ready to find their permanent and loving forever families. As Connecting Hearts -The Deborah J Johnston Foundation celebrates National Adoption Month, our “30 Kids in 30 Days” initiative is to bring awareness to 30 kids who are available for forever homes, but also to shed light on the other 830 children who may not be seen. Our kids are all ages and races, they were put in foster care due to no fault of their own.
