Richmond, Va. -- High temperatures on Friday hit the upper 70s and lower 80s across the area.  For many locations, these were the warmest temperatures in about one month.

While most areas were very close to the record highs for Friday, only Louisa and Staunton set new records within our viewing area.  Other records were broken in southwestern and northern Virginia.

The normal high for this point in November is around 65°.  Temperatures were near or above that level at daybreak Saturday.  A strong cold front will bring much cooler weather for the rest of the weekend.  Temperatures will fall into the 40s Saturday night and highs on Sunday will only rebound to the upper 50s and lower 60s.

The cool air will fade towards mid-week as highs approach 70° Veterans Day and Thursday.  Another cold front will pass Thursday, and this will bring cooler air back into the region for the end of the week.  Highs Friday will be in the mid 60s, but we may struggle to hit 60° Saturday afternoon.

If you are coming downtown for the races next Saturday, plan for some chilly weather.  As of now, it looks like temperatures around 7 a.m. will be close to 40°.  Skies should be mainly clear and there will be a light breeze.
