RICHMOND, Va - Multiple CBS 6 viewers called or messaged the station to report there were technical malfunctions at their polling places during the first few minutes of voting Tuesday.

CBS 6 spoke with a local election officials in Richmond who said some polling places had a issues with the computer system that handles the E-roll books.  The malfunction prevented election workers from checking-in voters once they found them in the system, the official said.  The problem was fixed within 30 minutes and only impacted a few polling location, according to officials.

Our crews checked several polling places where voters reported problems, and everything was operating smoothly when by the time CBS 6 arrived on sight.

Battle in the 10th

In one of the most expensive state senate races in history,  Democrat Dan Gecker and Republican Glen Sturtevant both said they were confident about their chances of winning.  The 10th Senate district includes portions of Chesterfield and Richmond and all of Powhatan County.

Political analysts said the race could be tight, and a Gecker win would likely swing the balance of power in the state senate to democrats.

Both men cast ballots Tuesday morning and said they hope voters focus on their records, not the host of attack ads aired by the other campaign.

The two campaigns combined to raise more than $4 million, according to the Virginia Public Access project.  Libertarian Carl Loser and Independent Marleen Durfree are also on the ballot in the 10th district.
