RICHMOND, Va. — An apartment fire in Henrico was quickly extinguished by fast working fire crews Saturday afternoon.

Henrico County Division of Fire was called to the 8800 block of Three Chopt Road around 3:30 p.m. after a vacuum an apartment resident had been using caught fire. Crews arrived to the scene to find smoke coming from the third story of the building. Inside, crews found the fire had spread to the carpet.

“The fire was quickly extinguished and prevented from spreading to the other apartments in the building,” said Captain Daniel Ronsenbaum. The fire was marked under control by 4 p.m.

Four residents of an adjacent apartment were rescued through a window due to heavy smoke in the hallway. No one was injured in the fire or rescue. One adult living in the apartment will be diplaced for a short period of time.  Only the apartment where the fire started suffered fire and smoke damage.
