CHESTERFIELD, Va. --Police are investigating after a three-year-old child was found in the median near Jefferson Davis Highway, in the rain late Wednesday afternoon.
The child was being watched by a 19-year-old, who police said fell asleep. That’s when the child was able to exit the room at the InTown Suites in Chesterfield.
While wearing his Halloween costume, the youngster was spotted on one of Central Virginia's busiest highways.
The three-year-old Spiderman told CBS 6 he wasn't in harm’s way. He was fighting The Hulk. "Fight bad guys and I do this,” he said, opening his wrists for an imaginary web spray.
Little Spidey was able to sneak out a locked door and slip away from adult supervision. That scared his family because they had just seen news of the death of a Chesapeake boy, the same age, hours earlier.
A passerby, Tosheika Goode, noticed the child in the median, on Perdue Springs Drive.
“I wanted to pick him up because I couldn’t even live with myself if I left that child out here – and then to watch the news and to see that something happened,” Goode said.
She said that could've been her grandson. “It was a sick and crazy feeling," Goode said. Wednesday night she was able to laugh about her new Marvel ID, Wonderwoman.
"He was so good,” she said. “He gave me a hug. It’s a good weekend to be Wonderwoman, so I can be that."
After she scooped up the boy and took him to safety, she told him, “Don't you ever go with strangers again, but you are coming with me. I was in full mommy mode," said Goode. "I got a chance to save a Superhero."

“I thank God that I was put in the right place at the right time to save him,” she added.
Goode took the child to police headquarters. Police contacted the parents, and they picked the child up.
No charges have been pressed at this time, police said. Child Protective Services was called and the incident remains under investigation.
