AMELIA, Va. -- New charges have been filed against the Amelia County teacher accused of possessing child pornography.

On Wednesday, David J. Fisher was also charged with soliciting child pornography. The 20-year Navy veteran and father of six children was a teacher --and according to the Amelia County website – a school coach.

According to the site, Fisher is a first year JV Football Coach as well as the head baseball coach.

He also previously taught Special Education at New Life Schools in Farmville.

"We take these cases very seriously," said Commonwealth Attorney Lee Harrison.

Harrison confirmed the victim is between the ages of 16-18 but would not confirm whether or not he or she was a student.

"This is a very serious situation, we don't like children being exploited," Harrison added.

"I just don't know what to say it is ridiculous," Roger Booker, an Amelia County parent said.

Booker, an umpire in the county, said has had several interactions with Fisher because he is a coach in the community.

"I guess everybody thought he was a good guy," Booker said.

Fisher is being held without bond and will next appear in court on Monday, Nov. 2.

A reporter attempted to contact Fisher, but a gate prevented crews from knocking on the door.
