HENRICO, Va. -- Police said a Henrico man posed online not only as a young girl but then as her father to threaten a young man.

Police said that the threat of exposing his adult-themed conversations was so real, the victim gave up money and a gaming system to clear his name.

Court documents state 23-year-old Daveon Sample is unemployed, but police said they know how he was banking some cash.

Police said it all started when they were called to the 1500 block of Autumn Honey Court at the Tuckahoe Creek Apartments on October 1.  There a man admitted he had an inappropriately sexual online relationship with someone he thought was a woman.

But that man later told investigators he was contacted by a man who identified himself as a father, claiming the person the victim thought was a woman, was actually a teenage girl.

"A robbery is using force, threat or intimidation,” said CBS 6 legal analyst Todd Stone. “But this is more of a mental force, which is just the same is extortion.  It's a serious felony."

Police said that's when the alleged victim was told pay up or get locked up.

Through their investigation police said they discovered Sample was behind the crime.

"Extortion is a felony and you can get up to 10 years in prison,” said Stone.

Police sources told CBS 6 to make matters worse, the victim is a special-needs adult and if Sample were to be convicted, Stone says a judge would take that into consideration when it comes to sentencing.

"Were there known vulnerabilities the victim might have and if that evidence is found true, it would aggravate sentencing and the crime would  most likely be more punishable," Stone said.

Daveon Sample is out on a $6,000 bond.  His next court date is December 8.
