HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump held a campaign rally at the main exhibition hall at Richmond International Raceway Wednesday. The 7 p.m. event was open to the public, but tickets were recommended.
Trump came to Virginia with a healthy lead in the polls of Republican voters in the Commonwealth. Trump is leading with 23 percent of conservative leaning voters supporting him, according to a recently released Christopher Newport University poll. Dr. Ben Carson is in second and Senator Marco Rubio is in third.
Trump and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton rank first and second in their unfavorable ratings among all presidential candidates, regardless of party. Trump had scheduled a campaign rally in Hampton Roads earlier this month, but it was cancelled because of severe weather.
