HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- 27 year old Patrick Mitchell was taken into custody following a standoff that lasted at least three hours at the Village at the Arbors community along the 5600 block of Crenshaw Road, near Chamberlayne Road and Wilmer Avenue. Numerous police officers, some with weapons drawn, initially surrounded the apartment complex in northern Henrico County Tuesday morning.

Neighbors said they were told officers were in the midst of a standoff with a man wanted out of New York City. CBS 6 has learned Mitchell had outstanding warrants in that state including a parole violation.

Henrico police Captain Bryan Cook says a robot was used to enter the apartment first, then officers entered.

Mitchell is currently being held in a Henrico County Jail on no bond pending extradition to New York.

More details of the operation have not yet been released. This is a developing story.
