RICHMOND, Va. — This sibling group is comprised of four boys, ages 1, 4, 6 and 12. They are African American and currently not placed together; therefore, their greatest desire is to be reunited in one loving and committed home. Andrew, TheShawn, Angelo, and Keith are looking for a family who has lots of energy, patience, time to play and supervise.

Andrew, the youngest is 14 months old and is standing up, getting ready to walk. He is a quiet child who rarely fusses. He likes to watch what his brothers and others are doing around him. He has good fine motor skills and will sit and play with his toys. He is meeting developmental milestones.

TheShawn is four years old and likes to be on the move. He likes to play with trucks and cars for short periods of time and then is on to the next thing. He enjoys pretend play and is creative. TheShawn is very watchful of what is happening around him and wants to know what is going to happen next and can be quite anxious. This manifests in asking many, many questions about why things happen, how they happen and where they are happening which in turn generates even more questions. He has a large vocabulary and acts older than four years old. He likes to play with other children but needs to be closely monitored, as do all four year olds.

Angelo is six years old and is a very sensitive and anxious child who is also very friendly. He has a great imagination and likes to pretend play. He likes to play ball and play with action figures. He likes to know what is going to happen and when. He needs to be reassured that you have things under control and will get him where he needs to be on time. Angelo benefits from praise, structure and discussions about change. Angelo recently attended summer school. Angelo will be starting the 1st grade this year. Angelo engages well with other children. Angelo has been taking swimming lessons, and seems to enjoy this activity.

Keith is 14 years old and likes to make sure his brothers are doing ok. He feels responsible for his brothers and worries about them, but needs to focus on just being a teen-ager. He is currently living in a residential placement, where he is getting help on dealing with his angry feelings. He is very friendly, fun active and adventuresome. He likes to do things and be busy.

In Virginia, we have over 860 children who are ready for foster to adoption. In other words, these children are ready to find their permanent and loving forever families. As Connecting Hearts -The Deborah J Johnston Foundation celebrates National Adoption Month, our “30 Kids in 30 Days” initiative is to bring awareness to 30 kids who are available for forever homes, but also to shed light on the other 830 children who may not be seen. Our kids are all ages and races, they were put in foster care due to no fault of their own.
