RICHMOND, Va. — Armstrong High School has decided to emergency close Tuesday for students and staff due to mechanical issues within the air conditioning system.

“Due to mechanical issues within the air conditioning system at Armstrong High School, the building will be closed for all students and staff tomorrow, Tuesday, September 29.”

“The projected forecast for tomorrow is expected to reach high temperatures. At this time, the air conditioning system cannot be maintained at a comfortable temperature to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” the school said in a statement.

The school said they are actively working to resolve the issue and expect that the system will be fully operational by tomorrow afternoon.

Grab and go lunches will be available for Armstrong High School students between the hours of 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
