RICHMOND:

The Sisters Network Central Virginia Chapter sponsors its 11th annual Gift for Life Block Walk, Saturday, September 26th 9am - 2pm at Church of Christ at Sandy Lane, 3201 Sandy Lane. The Registration includes a t-shirt (while supplies last) walk, Continental breakfast and lunch.  There will also be walking in honor and memory of CBS 6 Stephanie Rochon.  The walk consists of breast cancer survivors and volunteers canvassing door to door distributing breast health brochures, a resource list and pink ribbons, and telling residents that early detection saves lives and to stop the silence in our communities regarding breast cancer and breast health. And the message is for women young and old as well as men.

Sisters Network, Inc. (SNI) is a leading voice and the only national African-American breast cancer survivorship organization in the US supported by survivor-run affiliate chapters nationwide, like the Central Virginia Chapter. Among the organizations trademark and successful community based outreach programs are the Gift for Life Block Walk® and the Pink Ribbon Awareness Initiative. For the last 11 years members have visited thousands of homes throughout the Richmond area, this is an opportunity to connect with the community and raise awareness about early detection. Details visit http://www.sistersnetworkcentralva.org, https://www.facebook.com/SistersNetworkCentralVirginia or call 804-447-4022.
