BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Tech Hokies and the Ohio State Buckeyes will honor former WDBJ reporter Alison Parker and photojournalist Adam Ward during Monday night’s game.

The teams will wear helmet stickers with Parker and Ward’s initials, teal and maroon ribbons, and a number seven for WDBJ7. There will also be a 30 second moment of remembrance for both victims before the national anthem.

Virginia Tech and Ohio StateVirginia Tech announced Sunday they would wear the helmet stickers. Ohio State asked for permission to wear the stickers as well, that request was granted.

The teal ribbon represents Parker’s favorite color, while the maroon ribbon represents Ward, who graduated from Virginia Tech in 2011.

Parker and Ward were shot and killed on August 26 during a live TV broadcast at Smith Mountain Lake.

Virginia Tech said in a statement:

“Ohio State expressed a desire to show its solidarity with Virginia Tech in remembering the vibrant lives of Alison Parker and Adam Ward,” Tech Director of Athletics Whit Babcock said. “Coach Beamer and I both agreed it was a wonderful gesture on the part of Gene Smith (Ohio State AD), Urban Meyer (head coach) and the Buckeyes. We hope fans of both teams join us in hopefully providing some solace to the friends, families and co-workers who continue to miss Alison and Adam.”
