HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — State police worked a multi-vehicle crash on I-64 west that  closed the I-295 north ramp and also impacted drivers heading west from Short Pump.

VDOT said the wreck, which happened on I-64 at mile marker 177, closed the westbound ramp to the interstate from I-295 north.

As of 6152 p.m., the backup had cleared. At one point, traffic was backed up more than a mile and Henrico police urged drivers to avoid the area.

“One vehicle involved is leaking fuel which will require a protracted event to mitigate the leakage,” Lieutenant Richard Cosby with Henrico police said.

Drivers on I-295 were asked to use exit 53B as an alternate route.
