RICHMOND, Va. -- A cold front will slip southward through the state Friday afternoon and evening. Ahead of it, hot and humid conditions will continue with variable cloudiness.

Highs will range from the mid to upper 80s in northern Virginia to the upper 80s and lower 90s elsewhere.

Scattered storms with heavy rainfall will be around in the afternoon and evening. Isolated storms may produce some hail and strong wind gusts.

Cooler air will move in behind the front this weekend. An area of low pressure will be sitting across the southeastern United States through much of the weekend, and this could keep a shower or two in spots Saturday and Sunday.

The best chance of seeing rain will be extreme southeastern Virginia, including Virginia Beach. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Labor Day will be partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 80s. There could be a shower lingering near Virginia Beach.
