RICHMOND, Va. — An arrest was made after a young girl was struck while trying to get to a ice cream truck on Monday.

Police arrested Linwood Eddleton, 45, of the 2800 block of Wellington Street, who they said drove away from the scene after hitting a six-year old girl in the 1400 block of Coalter Street.

The six-year-old was getting ready to cross Littlepage Street when she was struck, by the mirror of the car.

She was taken to VCU Medical as a precaution, police said, treated for scratches and bruises and then released.

A Richmond Sheriff’s Deputy located Eddleton’s vehicle 30 minutes after the incident on N. 20th Street.

Eddleton has been charged with felony hit and run.
