A tropical wave off the west coast of Africa developed into Tropical Storm Fred early Sunday morning.  It will strengthen into a hurricane, and the Cape Verde Islands are under a hurricane warning.

Fred will track through the eastern Atlantic ocean and encounter wind shear and cooler ocean water.  This should allow him to dissipate quite a bit by the end of the week.  As of now, there is no major concern that he would survive a trip to the Caribbean or the United States.

There are three hurricanes in the central and eastern Pacific -- Ignacio, Jimena and Kilo.

Ignacio will travel just north of Hawaii.  It won't pass over the state, but it will be close enough to cause rain, gusty winds and high surf.

Jimena will go a bit northward of Ignacio's track.  There is an area of disturbed weather southwest of Mexico that may develop into a tropical storm this week.
