HENRICO, Va., -- An armed robbery took place Monday night at the South Laburnum MetroPCS store, near White Oak Village.

Police said that a man walked into the business, waved a gun at the store employee then demanded money.

People in the area who saw the crime happen say they first noticed the man milling about the dumpster area for quite some time.

He was wearing baggy shorts and had on no shirt but there was a T-shirt tossed over his shoulder, witnesses said.

He was speaking out loud and they thought he was on the phone, then they watched him disappear behind this building

Witnesses said within seconds he reappeared,  this time wearing a T-shirt and sunglasses and he headed to the MetroPCS on this sidewalk.

When he came out they said saw him carrying a big gun and he ran away on foot, and dropped a red hat that he had been wearing.

Within minutes Henrico police arrived and roped off the scene.

Now other business owners hope police can track down the suspect, as soon as possible.

“There's been a lot discussion,” said restaurant owner Jeff Steil.  “People thinking, oh it happened to them so who's next.”

“We obviously don't know the status of the perpetrator and if police caught him so we are concerned about it,” he added.

If you have any information about the crime, police ask that you call Crimestoppers at (804) 780-1000.
