POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. -- A security camera captured a group of thieves breaking into a business on Douthit Court in Powhatan, near the Chesterfield County line. The break-in was one of a series of crimes in the same area.

The first break-in was reported at Quality Data Systems on Sunday morning. On Monday morning, three break-ins were reported. One at SMG, a car dealership; Arborscapes and again at Quality Data Systems. Security video from one of the businesses captured the 4:42 a.m. crime.

"It is apparent from the audio that Va. State Inspection Stickers were the main target however none of these businesses possessed them," a sheriff's office spokesperson wrote in an email. "Computers, computer equipment and monies have been reported as stolen at this time. Additional items may be revealed as stolen as the investigation continues."

A car stolen from one of the businesses was later found on Anderson Highway. Anyone with information was asked to call Powhatan Sheriff’s Office at 804-598-5656 or Powhatan Crime Solvers at 804-403-4357.
