HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A 45-year-old home health nurse is behind bars accused of stealing money from a patient she was caring for in Henrico County.

Henrico police said Sonya Letrice Green had only recently begun working as a home healthcare nurse when she began stealing and depositing checks from the victim.

Officers were called to the 8200 block of Shelley Road on July 30 after the elderly victim reported the theft.

Police said the victim discovered the crime when she checked her bank account online and noticed irregularities.

She told police the thefts must have happened when Green worked for her over two weekends in July.

Green stated that she worked for a local home healthcare agency, according to court paperwork. However, when WTVR CBS 6 questioned the business, officials said she has not worked for them.

Green was arrested Thursday on nearly a dozen felony charges. She is being held without bond.
