ALBEMARLE, Va. — A police officer could take the stand at the next court appearance for Jesse Matthew.

The state has subpoenaed an Albemarle County police sergeant to testify at Matthew’s motions hearing on Thursday.

It’s the first time anyone will have testified in this case.

Matthew is accused of abducting and killing second-year University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, last fall.

Her body was later found on an abandoned piece of property in Albemarle.
