PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. -- Police in South Florida are looking for a mother captured on surveillance video doing the unthinkable -- directing her young daughter to steal alcohol.
Investigators said the woman in the video took the little girl into the 24/7 Lliquors store near Miami and pointed to a bottle of tequila, which the girl then picked up to steal.
WFOR reports the bottle was nearly took big for the child to carry, so she hid it behind her back and ran outside into a waiting car while her mom distracted the clerk.
The owner, Paul Moutsatso, saw the video and believes it is not their first time doing this.
“When you think you’ve seen it all you haven’t seen nothing yet,” Moutsatsos said. “This is child neglect. The way she did it looked like it really wasn’t the first time.”
Customers told the clerk what happened and the clerk confronted the woman, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the woman left the store and came back saying the child had not stolen anything.
