Armed robber tells Hanover Famous Footwear cashier to empty register into shoebox

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help to identify an armed robber that hit the Famous Footwear in Hanover County Wednesday night.

Officials with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said the crime happened around 7:10 p.m. at the Famous Footwear store in the 7200 block of Bell Creek Road.

“The suspect entered the store, picked out a pair of shoes and approached the counter. At that time, the suspect produced a handgun and ordered the clerk to put the money from the register in the shoebox,” Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman Major Mike Trice said. “The suspect took the shoes and money and fled the store on foot.”

Deputies released a surveillance photo of the suspect’s vehicle, which is thought to be a silver, four-door Dodge Avenger.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-to-late-20s with reddish-blond hair. He is between 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs between 230-250 pounds
