Glendale, AZ  — Glendale police said they got a call Saturday afternoon after a woman found a recording device in the women’s restroom of the Which Wich at Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale, reported KTVK.

“Before we left, I used the restroom, and I heard something beep,” Lisa, the woman who said she found the phone, explained. “I followed the sound and noticed there was a square air freshener, a plastic air freshener, on the floor.

“So once I picked it up, it beeped again, so I opened it and pulled back the foil and noticed there was an iPhone in there,” she continued. “I took the iPhone out, and it was very hot. Once I looked at the screen, [I noticed] it was recording.

“I was in shock,” Lisa said. “I felt very violated, you know? I put the phone back in the case and turned it around, and as I was leaving the restaurant, I told my boyfriend I had felt violated. He went in there and talked to the manager, and he said, ‘I’m sorry. I’m embarrassed, but I can’t contact police right now because I do not want to ruin my business reputation.'”

Lisa’s boyfriend, however, had no such qualms and contacted police.

When detectives went to the restaurant to investigate, they found the iPhone.

Police said they are forensically examining it.

Investigators also are looking at store surveillance video to try and find the person who put the phone in the restroom and when.

At this point, police do not have any suspect information.

We did reach out to the owner of Which Wich, who told our station that he and his staff are cooperating with the investigation.
