WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Two Richmond men and a Henrico woman were arrested for the abduction and robbery of a couple, police said. The trio abducted a man and his girlfriend from an apartment on Merrimac Trail in Williamsburg at about 5:15 Sunday morning, police said.

“The suspects forced the victims to get in the suspect’s vehicle and travel to Wawa where they demanded the victims withdraw money from the ATM located there,” Williamsburg Police Department spokesman Major Greg Riley said. “The suspects then tried to get the victims back in the vehicle once they were finished at Wawa. The male victim refused to get back in the car. The suspects left him at the scene and drove away with the female victim and an undisclosed amount of money.”

Police caught up with the suspect’s car near Exit 242-B (Route 199) on Interstate 64.

“At the time of the stop only the three suspects were in the vehicle. The location of the female victim was still unknown,” Major Riley said. “She was eventually located at a nearby hotel where she had walked after she was released by the suspects. No one was hurt during the incident.”

Derrick Antoine Smith, 34, of Richmond, Tajaddin Ismael Fardan Daily, 31, of Richmond and Jameka L. Smith, 33, of Henrico were charged with two counts of Abduction, two counts of Robbery one count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and one count Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
