COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA -- Jonah Pennington went into the shower back on March 17 to clean up after a long day at work. When he came out he would never be the same again.

That's because back on St. Patrick's Day a tree trimming company caused a power line to fall in his Colonial Heights neighborhood. That power line sent electric shockwaves into nearby homes and in Pennington's case into his shower.

"Midway through the shower light bulbs started popping," Pennington said. "People don't normally live from electric shocks that happened to me."

Now Pennington said he is being forgotten. While his old neighbors have replaced their cable boxes, he has been left with high medical bills and perhaps a lifetime worth of side effects.

Jonah Pennington said he is now on multiple different medications because of the incident.

Pennington told CBS 6 he still can't feel in his hands and feet, his back often aches, and he has trouble walking. Pennington said he no longer has a job and can't even play baseball with his son.

"No one will accept responsibility," Pennington said.

Pennington says the tree company, Long Greenwood Tree Service, has so far given him nothing for his rehabilitation.

That's why Pennington has filed a 1 million dollar lawsuit against the tree company as well as his old landlord. Pennington said fire officials told him his house was not properly grounded.

When CBS 6 reached an employee of Long Greenwood Tree Service Monday they told us they do not believe Pennington sustained all of those injuries from the accident and hung up the phone.

"I would say to them talk to my doctor," Pennington said.
