A break in the humidity, but not the heat

A cold front pushed across the state Thursday night into Friday morning.   Before the front came through, muggy air was in place with dew point levels in the 70s.  Significantly less humid air is filtering in behind the front.

Dew point levels will drop into the 50s and lower 60s Friday and Friday night.  The dew point levels will climb back into the 60s over the weekend, so it will be moderately humid.

Although there will be a break in the really muggy air for a few days, the heat will not really drop until later next week.  Highs in the Richmond metro area will stay in the 90s through the middle of the week.

Dew points will get back closer to 70° Monday & Tuesday, producing heat index values over 100°.  A stronger cold front will bring slightly cooler air by Thursday and Friday.
