CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield mother was arrested after an incident involving her children on West Hundred Road. Laura Black Ojediran, 40, was charged with two counts of assault and battery of a family member and one count of child abuse and neglect after police said she hit her eight and 13-year-old children with a shoe.

Following the alleged shoe assault, police said the mom kicked her 13-year old out of the family car and told the child to walk home. The family home was several miles from where the child was kicked out of the car, police said. A witness saw the walking child and called police.

Court records also say that Ojediran later returned to the scene. She told police she became frustrated while her son and daughter argued in the van as she was driving on Route 10.

We went to Ojediran's home to get her side of the story. Her sister and two of her kids came outside. But the sister had no comment, saying Ojediran is not allowed to be at the home.

The court has ordered the 40-year-old mother to have no contact with her kids.

Laura Ojediran is due back in Chesterfield Juvenile and Domestic Relations court on Sept. 14.

Chesterfield County Public school released this statement to CBS 6:

"The substitute employee will be removed from duty pending the disposition of the criminal charges and the administrative process," said Shawn Smith, spokesman for Chesterfield Schools.
