Officer pulls man from window as fire blazes in Chesterfield home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -– Firefighters said an officer pulled a man from a burning home in Chesterfield Friday night.

Chesterfield fire crews were dispatched to the to 10300 block of Elokomin Avenue for house fire report just before 11:55 p.m.

Before firefighters arrived, a responding police officer pulled a man from a ground floor window. He was was not injured.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from one of the home's side windows.

"It took crews approximately 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Fire damage was contained to one room of the house but it did sustain smoke damage throughout," Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Lt. Jason Elmore said.

Fire Marshals have determined the blaze started in the living room, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
