Shooting spree that wounded Hopewell teen also shattered glass, penetrated homes

HOPEWELL, Va. -- Police in Hopewell are investigating a shooting in the 600 block of Winston Churchill Avenue around 11 p.m. Saturday night.

According to Hopewell Police Captain Greg Taylor, police arrived at the scene to find a 17 year-old man with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center.

The shooter fled the scene before authorities arrived. Currently, police do not have suspect description.

Several vehicles and homes were damaged during the incident, but no one else was injured. Taylor said the shooting does not appear to be random, but that the victim is not cooperating with investigators.

"Anyone who was traveling in and around the area of this incident and observed any suspicious activity or vehicle, please contact the Hopewell Police Department at 804-541-2284," Taylor said.
