HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- There's some exciting news for families living in Short Pump. A new branch of the Children's Museum of Richmond had its grand opening Saturday.

Museum leaders said the new location allows them to serve more families with more resources and programs after another location in Short Pump on Old Brick Road closed in May.

Museum staff celebrated the grand opening with a host of new exhibits as well as face painting and prizes.

“We’re just very excited to be in Short Pump Town Center,” said Jessica Pride with the Children’s Museum of Richmond. “We’ve had balloons today. We made special hats for the event. An all-around good time [with] lots of playing, lots of interacting, lots of fun.”

The Short Pump location joins the museum's other satellite exhibits in Chesterfield and Fredericksburg.
