Gunman robs Ashland gas station in broad daylight

ASHLAND, Va. -- Ashland police are looking for a man involved in an armed robbery at an Ashland gas station Sunday morning.

Police were called to the 500 block of South Washington Highway around 9:10 a.m, where a suspect with a semi-automatic handgun demanded an unknown amount of money.

No shots were fired and no one was injured, according to Chip Watts with the Ashland Police Department.

The robber fled on foot, and possibly entered a vehicle parked at a nearby business in the 300 block of Ashcake Road.

The suspect is described as "a male of unknown race, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 8 eight inches tall, medium build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black mask covering his face," Watts said.
