CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The body of a 15-year-old boy who went missing Sunday night in the water off Cape Charles has been found, according to the Cape Charles Police Chief. Lopez did not know how to swim, his mother told WTKR.

The Coast Guard received a call at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday about a fatigued man near the Cape Charles fishing pier. The man said he was in the water with a 15-year-old male who was struggling against a current. The Coast Guard was able to rescue the man, but not the child.

"A Coast Guard 25-foot response boat crew from Station Cape Charles and a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City are on scene along with personnel from the Virgina Marine Resources Commission and Cape Charles Fire Dept," the coast guard said in a statement on Sunday.

Cape Charles is a town in Northampton County on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

This is a developing story.
