HAMPTON -- A Richmond woman was arrested after Virginia State Police found human remains in her car during a traffic stop on Interstate 64, according to State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick. Police pulled over Tonya M. Slaton, 44, of North Foushee Street, Saturday morning in Hampton for having expired license plates on the black 2003 Ford Mustang she was driving.

"During the course of the traffic stop, the trooper discovered human remains concealed inside the Mustang. The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk for examination, autopsy and positive identification," Sgt. Vick said.

Slaton was charged with concealment of a dead body and is being held at the City of Hampton Jail without bond.

The building owner where Slaton rents said that Slaton has been a tenant for two years. She  described Slaton as a happy, friendly person with a bubbly personality.

She said the tenant was late on her rent one month but took a second job to make the payment. CBS 6 has learned that Slaton worked full-time at Integrative Health in Glen Allen, as a front desk manager.

Anyone with information about Slaton or the black 2003 Mustang can contact the Virginia State Police at 757-424-6800, #77 on a cell phone or via email.
