SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is apologizing for what he now calls an “insensitive” post on his Instagram account. Kaepernick used the hashtags #7tormsComing and #Houston along with a photo of dozens of cars and trucks underwater. A Twitter user took a screenshot and posted it saying, “@Kaepernick7 put this on Instagram and everybody started going off on him.”

Storms and flooding have killed at least 10 people in Texas, with at least another dozen missing. Instagram users posted comments on the photo urging Kaepernick to “take it down” and wondering if the account had been hacked.

Kapernick’s post has since been removed from Instagram.

He tweeted an apology a few hours later.

Kaepernick has been known to use the hashtag #7stormsComing in the past, referencing his #7 jersey number.
