NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — A Massachusetts man is accused of poisoning his daughter with drain cleaner.

Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, said that 32-year-old Christopher Conley of Northampton was arraigned Thursday in Northampton District Court on a complaint charging him with attempted murder by poisoning, assault and battery upon a child resulting in substantial bodily injury and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

WSHM reportsthat prosecutors allege that Conley poisoned his 7-year-old daughter at their residence in April.

“The specific allegation is that the defendant injected ‘Liquid-Plumr’ drain cleaner into his daughter’s cecostomy tube in an attempt to end her life,” Carey added in a statement.

The girl was admitted to a Connecticut hospital, where she remains in serious condition with what Carey described as “extensive internal injuries.”

Conley is being held without bail. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for June 23.

The case remains under investigation by the Northampton Police Department and state police detectives assigned to the Northwestern D.A.’s office.
