RICHMOND, Va. -- Tuesday will be the last hot and humid day of the work week, as highs reach the upper 80s and low 90s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible in the afternoon and evening, with the strongest storms containing very heavy rainfall, gusty winds, small hail, and frequent lightning. A cold front will move through the area late Tuesday night, bringing much drier and milder air into the region.

Wednesday will be a more comfortable day, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s under partly cloudy skies.  Thursday will feature even cooler conditions as a back-door reinforcing shot of cool and dry air moves into the Commonwealth.  Some areas will likely see afternoon temperatures remaining in the 60s on Thursday.
