SUV hits, kills Hopewell teen ‘wearing all black’ in the middle of the road

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. - A Hopewell teenager was killed late Thursday night after he was hit by an SUV on Temple Avenue just east of Puddledock Road in Prince George County, according to police.  It happened around 11 p.m. Thursday.

"The pedestrian was identified as 19-year-old Marcel I. Claiborne of Hopewell," Prince George County Police Department spokesman Captain Eric Young said. "According to statements made by witnesses, the subject was walking in the middle of the roadway wearing all black clothing at the time of this incident."

Claiborne was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remained under investigation, police said. Friends and family of Marcel Claiborne can share their thoughts and condolences here.
