One dead, two injured in Richmond shooting; second homicide in eight hours

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond police are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured two others in Richmond’s Mosby Court, near Martin Luther King Middle School, Thursday night.

The shooting, which happened around 10:15 p.m., blocked off Coalter Street and Little Page as police investigated.

“Officers quickly found Ra’Keem Adkins, 22, of the 700 block of Mosby Street lying on the sidewalk of the 1900 block of Redd Street with gunshot wounds,” Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley said.

The victim died at the scene. The two other men who were shot were transported an area hospital.

This crime scene follows two other shootings in South Richmond on Thursday afternoon. There were two homicides within eight hours.

A man gunned down outside a Family Dollar store on Richmond’s Southside Thursday afternoon has died. A man running down the street in an alley was shot several times near Belt Boulevard and Stockton Street around 4:30 p.m. and is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
