RICHMOND, Va. —  Last summer’s Anthem LemonAid stands netted more than $100,000  for cancer treatment and research at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

This year’s benefit, which is FREE to participate and is perfect for children, families, community groups and businesses, returns July 17-19. That’s when supporters will set up an Anthem LemonAid stand to raise money for children battling cancer.

“Thanks to the generous community in Central Virginia, over the past thirteen summers, Anthem LemonAid has raised over $1 million. As always, all funds raised support the Hematology and Oncology Clinic at our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU,” officials wrote in a news release.

Participants receive complimentary supplies, including lemonade mix, cups, a pitcher, promotional sunglasses, stickers and signage, for their stand a week before the event.

The event is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In addition, organizers thanked other sponsors, including the Credit Union Cares Foundation of Virginia, BB&T Securities, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Kroger and Panera Bread.
