HENRICO, Va. – Three weeks after a massive apartment fire that was deemed suspicious, the Fire Marshal’s office made an arrest.

Michelle Brisson was arrested and charged with the burning or destroying a dwelling in connection with the fire that occurred at Hickory Creek Apartments around 7 p.m. on March 23, and which destroyed eight of the building’s 10 apartments.

On Tuesday, Brisson was denied bond in an Henrico County courtroom.

The charge is a felony and is punishable by imprisonment for life or for any period not less than five years, and a fine of not more than $100,000.

The apartment complex is in a high-density area, just off Mayland Drive behind the Tuckernuck Shopping Center -- not far from J.R. Tucker High School. Smoke from the massive blaze was seen from miles away.

No one was hurt, officials previously said, but 19 people, including one child, were displaced because of the fire.

The worst fire damage occurred on the backside of the building. Viewers captured and submitted photos as the fire tore through a portion of the three-story building.
