POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. — State police are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver killed in an early Sunday morning crash in Powhatan County.

Troopers said the driver of a pickup truck, possibly a late 1990s to early 2000s green Ford Ranger with extended cab, crashed in the 1500 block of Walkers Ridge Road around 12:45 am.

According to investigators the driver ran off the road, hit a parked 2010 Toyota Corolla, slammed into a tree, caught fire and became engulfed in flames.

Speed is considered to be a factor in the crash.

Officers pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police transported the driver’s remains to the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy, examination and positive identification.

If you have information that could help investigators, call Virginia State Police at 804-553-3445.
