Things Fritz the dog can’t catch: Pizza, doughnuts, hot dogs, a break

It’s a hard life out there for a dog. Especially if said dog isn’t good at playing catch.

Enter Fritz the golden retriever. When his owner, Evan Ball, throws items of food at him, he tries super hard to catch them in his mouth. But that’s a lot to ask of a dog who has no clue what he’s doing.

In honor of Fritz’ adorable inability to catch things, Ball posted a video documenting a handful of times his lovable dog’s eye-mouth coordination failed him.

“We’ve compiled some of the highs and lows of Fritz’s quest to learn how to catch food,” writes Ball in the video’s caption. “Sit back and enjoy a little ride through memory lane as Fritz is introduced to a steak, a strawberry, a chimichanga, a meatball, and more.”

In the clip, Ball throws various things like hotdogs and doughnuts — don’t worry, Ball claims that Fritz lives a “healthy lifestyle” — while Fritz jumps in the air to greet his tasty treat. Too bad for the fluffy dog, the only thing he manages to snag on the first try is a small fry at the end of the clip.

On the other paw, the five-second rule has no meaning to canines.

If you want to see more of Fritz not catching things, you can head over to his YouTube page, which celebrates his “positive, can-do attitude” while his owners wait for the day that he “masters the skill of catching food in his mouth.
You can do it, Fritz! (One day. Maybe.)
