The L.C. Bird Lady Skyhawks advance to the State Finals for the first time in school history by beating 55-48 over Thomas Edison in the 5A state semifinals. The newly named Gatorade Virginia State Player of the Year Taja Cole scored 15 in the win. They will meet Princess Anne in the finals.
In the 6A state semifinals, Cosby advanced for the second straight year with a 70-60 overtime win over James Madison. The Lady Titans outscored the Warhawks 20-10 in OT including starting the period with a 7-0 run. They will meet Bethel in the finals.
