RICHMOND, Va. — A 21-year-old man was sentenced to six years in prison, with four years suspended, after he pled guilty to child pornography charges Friday in Richmond Circuit Court. Manaf Badr Zagabh will serve two years in prison after he admitted to possessing child pornography.

“Evidence in court documents showed that the defendant possessed 25 child pornography videos on his tablet and cell phone. The videos depicted prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” Virginia Attorney General’s Office spokesman Michael Kelly said. “Zagabh was initially identified through an undercover investigation into the trading of child pornography over peer-to-peer networks. The defendant made numerous images depicting child pornography available to the public over the Internet.”

When officers searched Zagabh’s home last August, Kelly said Zagabh “voluntarily admitted seeking out and downloading child pornography from the Internet.”

“Unfortunately child pornography remains far too accessible online, and sick individuals continue to exploit and abuse those who are most vulnerable,” Virginia Attorney General Herring said in a statement. “Participation in this vile market contributes to the continued victimization of these children.”

Zagabh attended VCU from 2012 – 2014, a university spokeswoman confirmed. The Richmond Police Department and Louisa County Sheriff’s Office helped to investigate this crime.
