CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (WTVR/KCRG) – A dog in Cedar Rapids, Iowa took some bold steps to see her sick owner. The dog, Sissy, walked into Mercy Hospital last week — security cameras captured it all.
Her owner was admitted for complications stemming from an earlier surgery, and it seems Sissy missed her pal so much, she walked 20 blocks on her own to get the hospital. She walked right through the front door and found her family.
“I was surprised to see her. She was all wiggling and excited and I said, ‘Sarah, did you smuggle the dog in?’ and she said, ‘No, she brought herself in here, mom.’ So yea, it was surprising that she could get away from home and walk all the way down there,” said Nancy Franck, Sissy’s owner.
Sissy’s family still isn’t sure how she knew where to go because they’ve never taken her to visit Nancy. However, Nancy does work next door to the hospital, and the dog has been the car when the family dropped her off at work.
